My review of Omar Sayfo’s Arab Animation: Images of Identity is now up in the Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal. Safyo’s book is one of the few books that seriously examine animation production and cultures in the Arab countries. I highly recommend it for those interested in learning about non-western animation.

Thanks to Patrick Sullivan and Aimee Mollaghan for letting me review the book for the journal. Also thanks to my former student, Sayf Elhawari, for sharing deeper insights on how Arabic dialects are used in film and animation.

Feel free to contact me if you want a pdf version of the review.
